Considering our recent track record for not finishing games on time, along with the rain predicted for tonight, I’m posting now and not expecting to be able to do a post-game post. My solution to the crappy FOX telecast that will be tomorrow afternoon is to go to the game (so THAT’S how FOX telecasts increase revenue…).
I’ll be celebrating graduation with a friend; since we’re broke grad students, we’ll be utilizing the First Pitch program and public transportation to get into the stadium — meaning I have to go to bed early and get up at the butt crack of dawn to obtain the only tickets affordable for college students. Yes, the Reyes socks & a Traveling Sock will be accompanying us even though Reyes isn’t the probable for Saturday.
Quickly, quickly…
- Chicago injuries. Prior back on the DL (strained left oblique), shocker of the year. He joins Kerry Wood, who looks out for the year to the rest of his career. Despite the Jeff Gillooly-style fungo bat to his right elbow, the Cubs insist Zambrano will make his next start. Which is probably true — if his right arm fell off, he’d make his next start as a LHP.
- Chicago mismanagement. Dusty Baker isn’t going anywhere for now, according to GM Jim Hendry. Of course not, Hendry is an idiot, albeit one I’m glad to see in charge of the Cubs.
- Ponson to the Evil Empire (NYY) for league minimum. Since I wholeheartedly support two teams: the Cardinals and the team presently playing the Yankees, I can no longer wish him well in baseball, only in his personal recovery. May your ERA be high as the skies. His shirts are now on clearance in the Cards Clubhouse, right next to the Spivey shirts. I wonder how many of those Spivey things they actually expect to pawn off on people.
