Legally tailing the sacred St. Louis Cardinals since 2002.
Yes, I’m a chick Cardblogger. I may not know everybody’s stats but I know what they mean and I have strong opinions that are usually logical. I love the color pink but its presence anywhere on my body at a Cardinal game is strictly forbidden so as to prevent confusion with the dreaded CFB stereotype. [Update: Ok, so now I own a pink Nalgene. I fill it with water, ahem, and bring it to the stadium sometimes. I also have a hip flask. Sue me.]
Despite my lifelong residence in Cardinal Nation, I didn’t grow up a Cards fan and only experienced conversion as a freshman in college. I missed out on all those great moments as a kid like running the bases, getting autographs, and catching foul balls. I’m still trying to convince people that I ought to be eligible for the 15 & under promotions since if you count my Cardinals age instead of my chronological age, I’m well under the age cutoff.
Right now I’m a grad student and formerly in a teacher training program. Peanut butter & jelly sandwiches are my friends, except that I’m picky about not eating hydrogenated oils and high fructose corn syrup so I make my own bread and buy organic peanut butter and strawberry jam. I make an exception when I order my one hot dog at the stadium. And my, what a big exception it is!
As much as I have a rabid addiction to the St. Louis Cardinals, I have other vices: knitting and baking. Hand-knitting, the stuff of grandmas everywhere. Laugh, but when I’m sporting the finest pair of Rick Ankiel Anthony Reyes Brendan Ryan-style high socks or cranking out a blanket during chilly nights at the stadium, I’ll laugh at you. As for the baking, nobody has eaten my cookies/cupcakes/brownies and been displeased. Someday I want to sell beer and baked goods to drunken baseball fans downtown… or at least dangle a “care package” into the bullpen and see what happens.
As a Met fan, I will say that was John Maine’s worst start since he’s been here and that was only because Pujols came up with runners on. And our bullpen is scary good. As soon as Bradford induced the Pujols DP, I knew the Mets were winning.
BTW, I live in Chicagoland surrounded by Cubs fans so I got a good laugh out of your list. Good stuff.
I didn’t get to watch, but Maine seemed like he could be quite good if he didn’t start missing locations and making a few unfortunate pitches to Alberto. Reminds me of our buddy Anthony Reyes, high fastballs and all. Glad to help out and provide laughs at the Cubs’ expense : )
Elle:
Nice blog you have. My brother and I recently started a Cards blog as well and I was wondering if you would be willing to add each other to our respective blog rolls? Our website is Cardinal Commentary and can be found at http://www.cardinalcommentary.blogspot.com. Take a look and let me know what you think.
