Hi
I have been trying to trace the flour mill that my grandmother's family owned in Canterbury and came across your blog about the mill that had been next to a pub and burnt down. My mother was taken to see the mill (in the 1940's) when she was just married and recalls it was in the centre of Canterbury. Could this be the mill? I think it might. Do you recall the name of the pub it was next to? There is/was a pub called The Millers Arms situated near Mill Lane which is near Blackfriar's Lane that you explored. Was it the Millers Arms that you saw. Your help would be appreciated.
Many thanks

I saw your post about David Eckstein, and agree- what a guy!
I live in california, and we had tix for the three game series in Oakland in June.

Daivd got HURT two days before- and I seriously was devastated! He is by far my favorite player.

so, we go early to the game for batting practice-
David is stretching and talking to a trainer.
I was on the railing maybe 50 yards from him- holding my "Have Heart" front cover out.

Sure enough, he came RIGHT over to me when he was done, signed my book. Let my husband take our pic together, and he even put his arm around me.
I could have died and gone to heaven!

I will breathe easier when AUgust 1st comes, and he is still on our roster.

I got to see it and enjoyed it as much as you. It was hilarious seeing him sitting with the starters in the dugout afterwards. Dan & Al were joking that Wellemeyer was plying him for pitching tips.

Something else from the game that made me happy was Andy Cavazos' behind the back catch to start a 1-4-3 DP.

How many pitchers has dave duncan developed for the cardinals?
That's why pitching stinks. Example: Jason Marquis. He goes to Chicago, gets his mechanics straightened out and so on.
When Duncan is replaced by a competent pitching coach maybe the cardinals can have some cosistancy on the mound. Dave Duncan has never done an adequate job of developing new talent. The best thing
he has done for the cardinals is giving us his son. If Dave Duncan were such a great pitching coach Chris would be on the mound instead of the outfield. How much longer can Tony Larussa keep his long time buddy on the gravy train?

We've all felt the pain. I too have come close to pressing the panic button and launching complete rebuilding missiles. Some of these guys just haven't been themselves. Pujols was looking like a chump for a lot of at bats in April. But he's a workhorse, so I'm not worried about him. All of your concerns are still mine...and I still think Marquis will get shelled plenty of times this season. Give it time. I knew Duncan was gonna be great, despite all the doubting from people about his defense. Things'll get back on track. I don't know if we'll have a shot to take Milwaukee for the Central, but maybe with a nice surge we could limp into the Wild Card. Hoping that is.

I just wanted to add something to your list of bright spots...Yadier Molina not hitting under .200 in April. PLUS he already has his first home run of the season. I know it's not saying much, but Yaddy looks to be poised to have his best offensive season so far.
